Toro Tora. Fusion Amplifies The Vibe.

What the client needed

Working alongside VAIR, the client set out to create a bold, high-energy dining space centred around the theatre of charcoal grilling. The concept Toro Tora, meaning Bull in Spanish and Tiger in Japanese called for a lighting approach that could match the intensity of the grill while still allowing the space to settle into more intimate moments.

The brief was to balance drama and control, celebrating fire, texture, and movement without overwhelming the dining experience.

Our solution

We developed a lighting scheme that carefully paces the atmosphere across the space. A dynamic 17-circuit DALI Tiger pendant introduces rhythm above the dining area, acting as a central visual anchor. This is paired with a DMX controlled silhouette art wall, developed through in studio mock-ups, adding a subtle layer of movement and change.

Accent light over tables soft controlled spotlights.  Downlights highlighting custom textiles and burnt wood finishes, allowing the material palette to come through. Each element was tuned to balance bold feature moments with quieter layers, ensuring the lighting supports  rather than competes with  the theatre of the grill.

The result is a space that feels energetic yet composed, with lighting that moves naturally with the experience.
