What the client needed
The client wanted to reinvent the Isan dining experience for Bangkok’s vibrant Ekkamai district a venue that channels northeastern Thai roots yet feels totally of the moment and fun. They asked for a lighting design that could embody the quirky, story-rich character of “Somsak” (a fictional cabbie-turned-lottery-winner) and support the energetic, colourful interior: neon touches, bric-a-brac décor, lively social atmosphere. The lighting needed to unify the theming, support flexible dining and bar zones, and help the venue stand out in a crowded market as both playful and polished.
Our solution
We designed a playful lighting scheme that balances warmth, fun, and polished feel. Ambient lighting grounds the dining areas, while accent lights highlight the bar, décor, and playful motifs. Subtle colour washes enhance the street‑inspired aesthetic without overpowering the space. Controls allow smooth transitions from relaxed daytime dining to energetic evening bar mode with a custom dynamic basket chandelier . Every fixture was integrated with the interior to support texture, narrative, and overall cohesion.
